Ashley Giles v. Pakistan, 2000
Having taken one for 106 in his only previous Test, [Ashley] Giles quickly emerged as England's foremost spinner, and his 17 wickets were a record for an England bowler in a series in Pakistan, surpassing the 14 taken by another left-arm spinner, Nick Cook, in 1983-84. Giles never looked like being a world-beater, but he showed control, patience and unflappability. His success was in marked contrast to the hapless Ian Salisbury who, recalled to the England team after more than two years, managed just one for 193 in three Tests. He lacked control and, with Hussain using him only reluctantly, his confidence drained. Salisbury was subsequently dropped for England's tour of Sri Lanka in early...

The famous 'Win in the Dark'. Requested by myjkyz87. The azaan had already sounded, and the sun had sunk far beneath the Karachi horizon, when Graham Thorpe played the chinese cut off Saqlain Mushtaq, triggering mass jubilation from England's cricketers, not to mention the small knot of fans - all 12 of them - who had clung on in the fast-fading light. It had been an astonishing sprint to the f...

Garfield Sobers' six sixes in an over, Glam. v Notts., Swansea, 1968
Просмотров 254 тыс.14 лет назад
Garry Sobers made a significant mark on cricket history, not least as the man who first achieved the perfect six - six sixes in an over. The 1968 season was nearing its conclusion when Nottinghamshire, captained by Sobers, travelled to St Helen's in Swansea to meet Glamorgan. The home side were a distant second to Yorkshire in the Championship, with Nottinghamshire back in fifth. But a victory ...
Kevin Pietersen 158 vs. Australia, The Oval, September 2005
Просмотров 762 тыс.14 лет назад
This was the most important Ashes innings by an England batsman since Ian Botham demoralised Australia on the opening day of the 1986-87 series in Brisbane. And it almost never happened. When Pietersen came out to bat on the last day of the series in 2005 with England needing a draw to secure their first Ashes win in 18 years, Glenn McGrath had just removed Michael Vaughan and Ian Bell in conse...

Vandals stop play - Eng v Aus 1975
Просмотров 13 тыс.16 лет назад
The fourth day's play of the third Test at Headingley in July 1975 ended with the match balanced on a knife-edge. Australia, chasing a record 445 to beat England, and so retain the Ashes, had reached 220 for 3, with their opener Rick McCosker still there, within one hit of a maiden Test hundred. England still had their noses in front, however, with only Doug Walters, never happy on English pitc...

Four of England's greatest batsmen of the modern era. Graham Gooch Geoff Boycott David Gower Ian Botham Footage from BBC If you're wondering why the sound and pictures are out of sync, it's because the original audio was "Soul Limbo" but I had to do an audioswap due to a copyright claim. Graham Gooch 333 v India, Lord's, 1990
Просмотров 83 тыс.16 лет назад
Great batsmen consistently fail to score 456 runs in a series. Good ones often don't score that many in a Test career. Graham Gooch did it in one Test match. Unsurprisingly it remains a record and, while the pitch was an absolute shirtfront and produced 1,603 runs, rarely has a batsman gone about his business as remorselessly as Gooch, who was just starting a patch of the deepest purple (over t...
West Indies 25 All Out vs Ireland 1969

Mention Ireland and the West Indies, and everyone immediately talks about Sion Mills and 1969. People still find it incredible that the Windies were rolled over for just 25 it has become the stuff of folklore and legend Ireland's equivalent of England winning the World Cup in 1966. However it tends to be forgotten that Ireland have also beaten them on two other occasions, way back in 1928, but ...

Cheated ..
Smashing Brett lee, McGrath,Warne u must be one the greatest batsman.....❤❤❤
Indian player Suryakumar Yadavs batting style very similar to KP Of course KP has more class
Watched every shot from a bar in Jakarta ... what a knock it was. The drop by Warne was incredible.
Pieterson to Lee - throw ball at my head, i will send it to the pavillion. 😂😂😂
Wow how amazing is the commentary for the last six “it’s gone way down to Swansea”

Prakash Chandra Mandi
At 2:16 What s Catch Stewie!!
The Australia 😂😂
Arguably England's greatest batsman.
Always good to see Moin Khan's shithousery captured for all time.
00:15 looks quick
Lol 100 metre six,ipl flat track bullies are nothing against this legend.
i m sure i m not the only aussie who lost all respect for the aussie team after this serirs they wyll never have my support again
M. ATHERTON BATTING LEGEND 🌹🌺
I remember this report on black and white TV. Gary Sobers was sublime with the bat. A major first in cricket.
He would’ve played another 4 years if it wasn’t for Andy Flower
No wonder india isnt
2:20 that ball went a fair way off the seam
His hook shot was a thing of beauty...
Thats why Nass and Athers are respected.. This english team was nowhere close to world beaters in terms of talent but they did so well in that Asia leg.. Winning in Pak SL and drawing in India
Great ashes series
He literally tored lee... England made scapefoat to KP, otherwise he was destined to make very very big impact as cricketer...
Buckner should have got another job after that. At Specsavers..😲🤤 "bloody" awful decisions them 2
With all those missed chances it just had to be KP and England's day!
The best innings I have ever seen
That extraordinary event when a brilliantly skilled body combines with a brilliantly skilled mind. He was the complete package.
A true gem but the difference is in India as I'm Indian you play one good innings and you are superstar and than you never perform....people in India are less educated and thinking is very low especially after 2014 under corrupt trash BJP
Marvelous
The GOAT allrounder......better than Imran Kahn,Kapil Dev and Jacques Kallis.....Sir Garfield Sobers was a batsmen, who could bowl would be my number 2.....sorry thats what my gut says....
Tells you how much important it is to distinguish between o & a. "Maa ki" can heard as "Monkey" 😂😂
Steve bucknor really undidputed king of wrong decisions
I was 13 when this incredible series was played, and to this date this is my favourite innings. I love it's nuance and imperfection and the context it was played within. Imagine KP under the current Stokes/McCullum regime. The guy was ahead of his time.
Pakistan was unbeaten at Karachi and this defeat was the first test defeat at this venue. Later southafrica in 2008 and England in 2022 defeated Pakistan again on this venue. Australia came close on defeating Pakistan in 1994 but Pakistan by 1 wicket. India had Pakistan for 39/6 at Karachi in 2006 but still india lost by record margin. This venue is special for home team and opposition as well.
National stadium was almost empty even at time when legends waqar inzamam wasim saqlain were playing
Steve Bucknor could see everything in that light, including the money going into his bank for not coming off for bad light 🤣
I am Pakistani but bucknor did the right thing. Moin khan was wasting a lot of time. Opposition should bowl the reaming overs left in the day instead of wasting time.
you gotta feel for the pakistan bowlers - they spent 70 overs trying to get Nasser & Athers out in the 1st innings - feel for the poor spectators too
Pakistan couldn't see the ball but they got what they deserved...far to much time wasting... respect to bucknor👌🙏😆
I was there and also watched the ODI where Freddie hammered 72 off 40 odd balls
2000 and England beat Pakistan. 2022 England win a series in Pakistan again
Not many like him come along often. The vivs and Kevs of this world who could do it all. Luckily we have Buttler now. A truly FABULOUS player. Thanks Kev 👍
Gower "To be fair, many people in the ground will be unable to say they saw it" hahaha!
Who is here after watching today’s test match of england vs Pakistan
I well remember this era. Aged 30 at the time, I saw England triumph in the fading light, a feat repeated in Rawalpindi today (2022). Darren Gough, a future Terpsichore's muse, as was Mark Ramprakash, were in their playing days then.
Who’s here after todays result😂 and hearing Atherton and Nasser saying abouy the gloomy karachi game lol
Myself after two wins and of course after the commentary as well 😉
Here after clean sweep 😂
Bastard pakistani umpire and also fuckner
I remember this game very well. Pakistan's 1st ever defeat in tests in Karachi
LMAO Moin Khan had a comment for every ball. Wonder how his teammates put up with that.
10:32 "Come on yaar, gend nahi nazar aa rha Stevie". As though Bucknor could understand that lol
